The THAP9 gene spans approximately 19,448 bases and maps to human chromosome 4q21.22.
Chromosome 4 represents about 6% of the human genome and contains nearly 900 genes, including:
- Huntingtin gene – associated with Huntington’s disease
- FGFR-3 – linked to thanatophoric dwarfism, achondroplasia, Muenke syndrome, and bladder cancer
- Other disorders – Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, methylmalonic acidemia, polycystic kidney disease
