Target Information
Orphan receptor involved in nociceptive neuron function. May regulate nociceptor function and/or development, including pain sensation or modulation. Cortistatin-14 is a high-potency ligand for this receptor. Cortistatin plays roles in sleep regulation, locomotor activity, and cortical function. In receptor-expressing cells, cortistatin increases intracellular Ca²⁺ but does not affect basal or forskolin-stimulated cAMP levels, indicating G(q)-coupling. Expression is limited, found in both peripheral and central nervous systems, with highest levels in dorsal root ganglion.
