Target Information
GTP-binding proteins are GTPases that function as molecular switches, alternating between active (GTP-bound) and inactive (GDP-bound) states. When a ligand binds to a G-protein-linked receptor, the receptor activates trimeric G proteins by promoting GDP-GTP exchange. The switch turns off when GTP is hydrolyzed to GDP, allowing temporal regulation of downstream signaling.
