Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the C-type lectin family, proteins that possess collagen-like sequences and carbohydrate recognition domains. This protein functions as a scavenger receptor, a cell surface glycoprotein that binds carbohydrate antigens on microorganisms to facilitate their recognition and removal. It can also recognize oxidized phospholipids, suggesting a role in clearing oxidatively damaged or apoptotic cells.
