Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
The RPL38 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L38E family. It is located in the cytoplasm.
Alternative splice variants encode the same protein. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome, including one located in the promoter region of the type 1 angiotensin II receptor gene.
