Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the Fas-activated serine/threonine kinase domain (FASTKD) protein family. These proteins share an amino-terminal mitochondrial targeting domain, multiple carboxy-terminal FAST domains, and a putative RNA-binding RAP domain. They are ubiquitously expressed, with higher abundance in mitochondria-rich tissues such as heart, skeletal muscle, and brown adipose tissue. Some family members may be involved in apoptosis. The encoded protein interacts with mitochondrial respiratory and translation network components. A pseudogene is present on chromosome 5, and alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
