Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. The most common genetic alteration is chromosomal rearrangement, producing a fusion gene between ALK (chromosome 2) and NPM (chromosome 5). The resulting NPM-ALK fusion protein is oncogenic. ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It plays a critical role in neuronal development and function.
