Target Information
NUMBL plays a role in neurogenesis. It is required during embryonic neurogenesis to maintain neural progenitor cells (radial glial cells) by promoting progenitor cell fate over neuronal differentiation. It is also necessary postnatally in the subventricular zone (SVZ) for neuroblast survival and ependymal wall integrity. Acts as a negative regulator of NF-kappa-B signaling by preventing MAP3K7IP2 interaction with polyubiquitin chains of TRAF6 and RIPK1, and by promoting Lys-48-linked polyubiquitination and degradation of TRAF6 in cortical neurons.
