Target Information
Saposin C는 사포신 전구체 단백질(prosaposin)의 연속 절단으로부터 유래한 네 개의 상동 단백질 중 하나입니다. 이 단백질은 Gaucher 병에서 결핍된 효소인 글루코세레브로시다아제(glucocerebrosidase)의 필수 활성화 인자입니다. Gaucher 병은 GBA 유전자 돌연변이에 의해 발생하는 희귀 상염색체 열성 리소좀 축적 질환으로, 단순한 멘델 유전 질환임에도 불구하고 매우 다양한 표현형을 보입니다. 이러한 표현형 다양성은 Gaucher 병의 표현형을 조절할 수 있는 유전적 조절 인자(modifier)를 찾는 연구로 이어졌으며, PSAP 유전자는 그 주요 후보로 간주됩니다.
