For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein) is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac, intestinal tract, and liver during fetal development.
In adults, AFP expression is often associated with hepatoma or teratoma, though hereditary persistence may occur without pathology. AFP is considered the fetal counterpart of serum albumin, and both genes are located in tandem on chromosome 4.

AFP exists in monomeric, dimeric, and trimeric forms and can bind copper ions, nickel ions, fatty acids, and bilirubin.
AFP levels in amniotic fluid are used to screen for spina bifida and anencephaly. Elevated serum AFP levels are found in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, teratoblastoma, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and germ cell neoplasms.
