Target Information

MAPK10 (JNK3) is a neuronal-specific form of c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNKs). It is involved in neuronal apoptosis and phosphorylates MAP2K4. MAP kinases act as integration points for multiple biochemical signals and are involved in various cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation, and development.
Beta-arrestin 2 interacts with and stimulates phosphorylation of MAPK10 by MAP kinase kinase 4 (MAP2K4). Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 can phosphorylate and inhibit MAPK10 activity, potentially preventing neuronal apoptosis. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
