Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The cystatin superfamily consists of cysteine protease inhibitors categorized into three types:

• Type 1 (Cystatins A and B): Mainly intracellular.
• Type 2 (Cystatins C, D, E/M, F, G, S, SN, SA): Extracellular.
• Type 3 (Kininogens): Intravascular proteins.

All true cystatins inhibit cysteine peptidases of the papain family, such as cathepsins, and some also inhibit legumain family enzymes.
Cystatin SA, S, and SN are primarily found in saliva, while S and SN can also be expressed in tears, urine, and seminal fluid.
Cystatin C is expressed in brain, thymus, ovary, epididymis, and vas deferens.
Cystatin D protects against proteinases in the oral cavity, and Cystatin E/M and F moderate inhibition of cathepsin proteins.
Fetuins, part of the cystatin superfamily, influence osteogenesis, insulin receptor regulation, and systemic inflammation response.
Kininogen HC and LC inhibit thrombin- and plasmin-induced thrombocyte aggregation.
