The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the PSCD family, characterized by:
- N-terminal coiled-coil motif (homodimerization)
- Central Sec7 domain (guanine-nucleotide exchange protein activity)
- C-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain (membrane association)
These proteins regulate protein sorting and membrane trafficking.
CYTH4 exhibits GEP activity with ARF1 and ARF5 but is inactive with ARF6.
Its structure is similar to CYTH1.
