Target Information
ACTR1A encodes a 42.6 kD subunit of dynactin, a macromolecular complex of 10–11 subunits (22–150 kD). Dynactin binds to microtubules and cytoplasmic dynein, participating in ER-to-Golgi transport, lysosome and endosome movement, spindle formation, chromosome movement, nuclear positioning, and axonogenesis.
This subunit is present in 8–13 copies per dynactin molecule and is the most abundant component in the complex. It is an actin-related protein, sharing ~60% amino acid identity with conventional actin.
