Target Information
The Olfactomedin family comprises a diverse group of secreted glycoproteins, including OLFM1 (Noelin-1), OLFM2, OLFM3, OLFM4, tiarin, pancortin, gliomedin, and myocilin. These proteins are involved in the development of the nervous system. OLFM1 and OLFM2 are expressed in the neural plate, neural crest, and cranial ganglia in mouse embryos (E8–E10), and later in brain tissue and limb regions. Overexpression of OLFM1 induces excess neural crest emigration and prolonged neural crest production. OLFM2 regulates anterior nervous system development. An Arg144Gln mutation in OLFM2 has been linked to open-angle glaucoma (OAG).
