Target Information
The TNFRSF11B gene encodes a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. The protein acts as an osteoblast-secreted decoy receptor that negatively regulates bone resorption. It binds specifically to its ligand, osteoprotegerin ligand, both of which are key extracellular regulators of osteoclast development. Studies in mice suggest roles in lymph-node organogenesis and vascular calcification. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported, but their full-length nature remains undetermined.
