Target Information
This receptor is controlled by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels preferentially allow potassium influx rather than efflux. Their voltage dependence is regulated by extracellular potassium concentration; as external potassium increases, channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. Inward rectification results from blockage of outward current by internal magnesium and can be inhibited by extracellular barium.
Subunit of ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATP). Forms cardiac and smooth muscle-type KATP channels with ABCC9. KCNJ11 forms the channel pore, while ABCC9 mediates activation and regulation.
