Target Information

Enterococci are part of the lactic acid bacteria family and represent the third most important bacterial genus in hospital infections, particularly Enterococcus faecium.
In food, they can spoil processed meats but also contribute to ripening and aroma development of traditional cheeses and sausages, and are used as human probiotics.
However, they possess broad-spectrum antibiotic resistance, which has significant implications for human health and disease.
