Target Information
HSPC142 is a component of the BRCA1-A complex, which specifically recognizes Lys-63–linked ubiquitinated histones H2A and H2AX at DNA lesion sites. This recognition helps target the BRCA1-BARD1 heterodimer to double-strand breaks (DSBs).
The BRCA1-A complex also exhibits deubiquitinase activity, removing Lys-63–linked ubiquitin from histones H2A and H2AX.
Within the complex, HSPC142 is essential for integrity and localization at DSBs. It also functions in the BRISC complex, which cleaves Lys-63–linked ubiquitin, maintaining BRE/BRCC45 stability and supporting BRCC3/BRCC36-mediated deubiquitinase activity.
