Target Information
KIF4A encodes a member of the kinesin 4 subfamily (chromokinesins). This ATP-dependent microtubule-based motor protein is involved in intracellular transport of membranous organelles, associates with condensed chromosome arms, and contributes to chromosome integrity during mitosis. It may also play a role in central spindle organization prior to cytokinesis. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome X.
