The Pierce Silver Stain Kit is a rapid, ultra-sensitive, and versatile silver stain system for protein detection in polyacrylamide gels, yielding consistent and reliable results.
It provides a remarkably clear and uniform gel background using metallic silver (Ag) staining. In standard mini gels, proteins are detectable at greater than 0.25 ng per band or spot.

The protocol is optimized for flexibility, allowing short or overnight gel fixation and staining without affecting sensitivity or clarity.
A brief one-minute sensitization step after gel fixation ensures results free of dark or blotchy backgrounds often seen with homemade or other commercial silver stains, improving densitometric analysis accuracy.

Pierce Silver Stain uses formaldehyde at low concentrations in the stain and developer solutions, minimizing irreversible protein crosslinking.
