RNF17 (Ring Finger Protein 17)는 1623개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, 1개의 ring-type zinc finger와 4개의 tudor domain을 포함합니다. RNF17은 정소(testis)에 특이적으로 발현되며, 많은 ubiquitin E3 ligase에서 발견되는 RING finger motif를 가지고 있습니다.
RNF17은 Myc oncoprotein network의 basic-helix-loop-helix-leucine zipper 전사 인자인 Mad family (Mad1, Mxi1, Mad3, Mad4)와 상호작용합니다. 또한 RNF17은 ciliogenesis와 sonic hedgehog (SHH) 신호에 필요한 tectonic-like complex의 구성 요소로서 기능합니다.
RNF17은 in vitro 및 in vivo에서 이합체 또는 중합체를 형성할 수 있어, RNF17 granule의 조립에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다. RNF17은 정자형성과정(spermiogenesis)의 핵심 조절자로 알려져 있습니다.
