Target Information
FAM21A acts as a component of the WASH core complex, which regulates actin polymerization on endosomes by recruiting and activating the Arp2/3 complex. It mediates endosomal membrane association via phospholipid and VPS35 binding, facilitating vesicle scission and trafficking. Also involved in endosome-to-plasma membrane recycling of SNX27-retromer-dependent cargo proteins such as GLUT1. Required for association and recruitment of several retromer and CCC complex subunits.
