Target Information
The TBL1Y protein belongs to the WD40 repeat-containing protein family, which is involved in regulatory functions such as signal transduction, RNA processing, gene regulation, vesicular trafficking, and cytoskeletal assembly. It is a subunit of the SMRT (silencing mediator for retinoid and thyroid receptors) corepressor complex along with histone deacetylase 3. The gene is located adjacent to the ocular albinism gene and may be implicated in ocular albinism with late-onset sensorineural deafness. Four transcript variants encoding two isoforms have been identified. This gene shows high similarity to the Y chromosome TBL1Y gene.
