Ribosomes는 단백질 합성을 촉매하는 세포 소기관으로, 작은 40S 소단위체와 큰 60S 소단위체로 구성됩니다. 두 소단위체는 4종의 RNA와 약 80개의 구조적으로 구별되는 단백질로 이루어져 있습니다. 본 유전자는 60S 소단위체의 구성 요소인 ribosomal protein을 암호화하며, L27E 계열에 속하고 세포질에 위치합니다. 일반적인 ribosomal protein 유전자와 마찬가지로, 이 유전자는 게놈 전체에 다수의 처리된 pseudogene을 포함하고 있습니다.
