Target Information
The PCDHB1 gene belongs to the protocadherin beta gene cluster, one of three related clusters on chromosome 5. These clusters exhibit a genomic organization similar to B-cell and T-cell receptor gene clusters. The beta cluster contains 16 genes and 3 pseudogenes, each encoding six extracellular cadherin domains and a unique cytoplasmic tail. These neural cadherin-like adhesion proteins are integral membrane proteins likely involved in specific neural cell-cell connections.
