Target Information
ITAGV encodes the integrin alpha chain V. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha and a beta chain. The I-domain containing integrin alpha V undergoes post-translational cleavage to yield disulfide-linked heavy and light chains, which combine with multiple integrin beta chains (β1, β3, β5, β6, β8) to form different integrins.
Among these, the αVβ3 integrin, known as the Vitronectin receptor (VNR), is well-studied and mediates adhesion and signal transduction. Integrin β3 is found with the αIIb chain in platelets and participates in cell adhesion and cell-surface mediated signaling.
