XK는 444개의 아미노산으로 구성된 막 관통 단백질로, 혈액형을 결정하는 Kx 항원을 운반합니다. XK 관련 유전자(XKR) 패밀리는 XK의 상동 유전자군으로, XKR6은 641 아미노산으로 구성된 다중 막 관통 단백질로 Kell 혈액형 시스템의 XK/Kell 복합체 구성 요소로 추정됩니다. XKR6 유전자는 인간 염색체 8에 위치하며, 약 1억 4600만 염기쌍과 약 800개의 유전자를 포함합니다. 대체 스플라이싱에 의해 두 가지 아이소폼이 생성됩니다.
