Antibody detects endogenous levels of total CXCL7/PBP.
Target Information
Members of the α-chemokine subfamily of inducible, secreted, pro-inflammatory cytokines contain a Cys-X-Cys motif and are chemotactic for neutrophils. The platelet basic protein (PBP), a member of this family, is stored in platelet α-granules and released upon activation. Proteolytic cleavage produces several peptides including mature PBP, connective tissue-activating peptide III (CTAP III or LA-PF4), β-thromboglobulin (β-TG), and neutrophil-activating peptide 2 (NAP-2). These peptides mediate inflammation and wound healing, with NAP-2 promoting neutrophil chemotaxis and degranulation. The human PBP gene is located on chromosome 4q12–q13.
