POU5F1, Sox2, Klf4, Lin28, c-Myc 등의 전사 인자를 이용해 유도만능줄기세포(iPS 세포)를 생성할 수 있으며, 최근에는 바이러스 도입 없이 플라스미드 발현 시스템을 통해 iPS 세포를 생성하는 연구도 보고되었습니다.
