Target Information
The product of this gene is a microtubule-associated protein predominantly expressed in epithelial cells. Microtubule-associated proteins are involved in microtubule dynamics, essential for cell polarization and differentiation. This protein stabilizes microtubules and modulates their functions. Studies on the mouse ortholog indicate a crucial role in spermatogenesis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
