Target Information
CYR61 is a secreted heparin-binding protein encoded by a growth factor-inducible immediate-early gene that associates with the extracellular matrix and connective tissue. It belongs to the CCN protein family, which includes CTGF and the mouse homolog Fisp12. CYR61 functions as an angiogenic inducer by binding to integrin αvβ3, stimulating cell adhesion, migration, and DNA synthesis in human vascular endothelial cells. Expression of CYR61 increases during vessel growth, wound healing, and chondrocyte differentiation, and is also observed in various tumors where it promotes tumor growth and serves as a marker of tumor progression.
