Target Information
CYP3A43 encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These monooxygenases catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids. This enzyme exhibits low testosterone hydroxylase activity. Although homologous to some drug-metabolizing cytochrome P450s, its role in xenobiotic metabolism is unclear. The gene is located in a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 7q21.1 and has three transcript variants encoding different isoforms due to alternative splicing.
