Target Information
In humans, ZIM2 and PEG3 (GeneID:5178) are two distinct genes that share a set of 5′ exons and have a common promoter, both being paternally expressed.
Alternative splicing events connect the shared exons with exons unique to each gene: 4 exons for ZIM2 and 2 for PEG3.
In contrast, in mouse and cow, ZIM2 and PEG3 do not share exons, and the imprinting status of ZIM2 is not conserved among mammals.
Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding the same protein have been identified for the human ZIM2 gene.
