PPAPDC2는 Presqualene diphosphate (PSDP)를 presqualene monophosphate (PSMP)로 탈인산화하는 인산화효소로, 선천 면역에서 중요한 역할을 할 가능성이 있습니다. PSDP는 세포 활성화 시 빠르게 PSMP로 전환되는 생리활성 지질입니다.
PPAPDC2는 PSDP > FDP > phosphatidic acid 순으로 기질 선호도를 가지며, Mg²⁺ 독립적으로 활성화됩니다. 활성화된 인간 호중구(PMN) 추출물에서 확인되었으며, 다양한 인간 조직에서 광범위하게 발현됩니다. 최근 연구에 따르면 PPAPDC2는 기능적 isoprenoid diphosphate phosphatase로 작용합니다.
