This antibody may be stored for up to twelve months without detectable loss of activity. Protect from prolonged exposure to light and do not freeze. Sodium azide is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly by flushing with large volumes of water.

Target Information

CD55 (decay-accelerating factor, DAF) is a GPI-anchored membrane glycoprotein that protects autologous cells from complement cascade activation. Interactions between CD55 and CD97 play roles in T cell regulation and complement control.
In tumors, CD55 is associated with neoangiogenesis, tumorigenesis, invasiveness, and apoptosis evasion.
CD55 is a ~70 kDa glycoprotein (in erythrocytes) anchored by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol tail. It binds activated C4b or C3b complement fragments on the cell surface, preventing assembly and accelerating decay of complement pathways.
CD55 carries the Cromer-related blood group antigens. Two alternatively spliced transcripts produce either a membrane-bound or a soluble form of the protein. CD55 has been implicated in prostate cancer growth and survival.
