Product Specific Information

The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, mature T-helper cells, and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 acts as a receptor for HIV, and RPA-T4 can block HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reactions.
This antibody recognizes a different epitope from OKT4 and does not cross-block binding.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated for flow cytometry of normal human peripheral blood cells. Use at 2 µL (1 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell count range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Excitation: 488 nm; Emission: 520 nm; Laser: Blue Laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD4 antigen recognizes MHC class II molecules and serves as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed in T-helper cells, but also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
Tissue expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and regions of brain and gut. CD4 aids in T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase.
It can mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are known (RefSeq, July 2017).
