Target Information
LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase and a member of the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions locally to modulate lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol, while deficiency increases HDL levels in animal models. LIPG exhibits phospholipase activity and plays a role in lipoprotein metabolism and vascular biology. It belongs to the TG lipase family, characterized by a lid region conferring substrate specificity. LIPG acts as a carboxyl esterase, hydrolyzing HDL, emulsifying triglycerides, aiding fat digestion, and binding to heparin.
