Target Information
PLXNA4 is a protein-coding gene that acts as a coreceptor for SEMA3A. It is necessary for signaling by class 3 semaphorins and subsequent remodeling of the cytoskeleton. PLXNA4 plays a crucial role in axon guidance during nervous system development. Class 3 semaphorins bind to a complex composed of a neuropilin and a plexin. The plexin modulates the affinity of the complex for specific semaphorins, and its cytoplasmic domain is required for activation of downstream signaling events in the cytoplasm.
