Target Information

Lumiliximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody used as an immunosuppressive pharmaceutical. It is a primatized anti-CD23 macaque/human chimeric antibody that inhibits IgE antibody production, with potential applications in allergic condition research.
Developed by IDEC Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Biogen), Lumiliximab was evaluated in clinical trials for CLL and allergic asthma, which were discontinued due to unmet endpoints.
CD23 (Fc epsilon RII, FcepsilonRII) is a low-affinity receptor for IgE, involved in allergy and parasitic resistance. It is a C-type lectin expressed on mature B cells, activated macrophages, eosinophils, follicular dendritic cells, and platelets.
