Target Information
The TRIB2 gene encodes one of three members of the Tribbles family. These proteins share a Trb domain homologous to protein serine-threonine kinases but lack the active site lysine, likely rendering them catalytically inactive. Tribbles proteins regulate signal transduction pathways involved in various physiological and pathological processes. TRIB2 induces apoptosis primarily in hematopoietic cells, is upregulated by inflammatory stimuli in myeloid (THP-1) cells, and acts as an oncogene by inactivating C/EBPα, contributing to acute myelogenous leukemia. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
