Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for E. coli ssPA / Stringent starvation protein A.

Target Information

sspA preferentially cleaves peptide bonds on the carboxyl-terminal side of aspartate and glutamate. Along with other extracellular proteases, it is involved in colonization and infection of human tissues. It is required for proteolytic maturation of thiol protease SspB and inactivation of SspC, an inhibitor of SspB.

sspA is the most important protease for degradation of fibronectin-binding protein (FnBP) and surface protein A, which are involved in adherence to host cells. It may also protect bacteria against host defense mechanisms by cleaving immunoglobulin classes IgG, IgA, and IgM, and may be involved in the stability of secreted lipases.
