Product Specific Information
Description: CD258, or LIGHT, is a 29 kDa type II transmembrane protein and a member of the TNF ligand superfamily. It is expressed on various hematopoetic cells, with particularly high levels on activated T cells and immature DC. It forms a cell-surface homotrimer, or is released in a soluble form following proteolytic cleavage. LIGHT interacts with HVEM (Herpesvirus Entry Mediator), resulting in costimulation of T cells that enhances proliferation and cytokine secretion.
Applications Tested: The intended use of the Human CD258 (LIGHT) Single-Use ELISA RSG Standard is as standard for the Human CD258 (LIGHT) ELISA Ready-SET-Go!® (cat 88-7258). Typically the standard is run in a series of 7 doubling filutions from the top standard. Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis included with each ELISA set for instructions on the proper dilution of the standard.
Note: These are single-use vials. Use one time and discard. Dilute as suggested in the Certificate of Analysis, not difficult-to-measure fractions of the suggested volumes (e.g., not 0.5 µL in 1.0 mL) or recovery may not be accurate. Use within 6 hours of dilution to top standard concentration.
Storage and handling: For best recovery, quick-spin vial prior to opening. For dilution of current stock, use ELISA Assay Diluent.
Target Information
Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, occurs during normal cellular differentiation and development of multicellular organisms. Apoptosis is induced by certain cytokines including TNF (tumor necrosis factor) and Fas ligand of the TNF family through their death domain containing receptors, TNFR1 (tumor necrosis factor receptor 1) and Fas. Cell death signals are transduced by death domain (DD)-containing adapter molecules and members of the ICE (interleukin-1-beta converting enzyme)/CED-3 (C. elegans death receptor-3) protease family. A novel DD-containing molecule was recently cloned from mouse, human and monkey and designated Daxx (death associated protein 6). Daxx binds specifically to the Fas death domain and enhances Fas induced apoptosis and activates the Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) pathway. Daxx is widely expressed in fetal and adult human and mouse tissues indicating its important function in Fas signaling pathways.
