ZNF16은 Krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family에 속하며, 17개의 C2H2-type zinc fingers를 포함합니다. 전사 조절에 관여할 수 있으며, 이 유전자는 chromosome 8 상의 ZNF7/KOX4 근처에 위치합니다. 동일 단백질을 암호화하는 두 가지 alternative splice variant가 확인되었습니다.
