This antibody detects endogenous levels of total RRAS protein.

Target Information

The Ras superfamily of small GTPases includes Ras, Rho, Arf, Rab, and Ran families. Ras-regulated signaling pathways control processes such as actin cytoskeletal integrity, proliferation, differentiation, cell adhesion, apoptosis, and cell migration. These GTPases act as molecular switches cycling between GDP-bound inactive and GTP-bound active forms. GTP binding induces conformational changes in the effector-binding domain. Ras proteins (~20–30 kDa) are membrane-associated via prenylation. Mutations in Ras proto-oncogenes (H-Ras, N-Ras, K-Ras) occur in 20–30% of human tumors, with K-Ras mutations frequent in lung, colorectal, and pancreatic cancers; H-Ras in bladder, kidney, and thyroid cancers; and N-Ras in melanoma, liver, and hematologic malignancies.
