GSK3B는 에너지 대사, 신경세포 발달 및 체형 형성에 관여하는 프롤린 지향성 세린/트레오닌 단백질 키나아제로, 포도당 항상성의 음성 조절자 역할을 합니다. 또한 염증, ER 스트레스, 미토콘드리아 기능 이상, 세포자멸사 경로에 관여합니다.
Wnt/β-catenin 신호전달 경로의 핵심 구성 요소로서, β-catenin 분해를 매개하여 Wnt 신호를 억제합니다. 또한 Hedgehog, Notch, 인슐린 신호 경로에도 관여합니다.
