Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that acts as a key component of innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta), establishing an antiviral state. STING may also participate in translocation and apoptotic signaling through interactions with MHC-II, facilitating detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA. It mediates death signaling via ERK pathway activation and is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane. STING is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
