This PTP has an extracellular region, a single transmembrane region, and a single intracellular catalytic domain, representing a receptor-type PTP.
The similar gene expressed in mouse brain associates with MAP kinases, regulating their activity and localization. The rat counterpart is regulated by nerve growth factor, suggesting a role in neuronal growth and differentiation.
