Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) family.
The protein contains a conserved 120 amino acid RGS domain and attenuates G-protein signaling by binding to activated, GTP-bound G alpha subunits and acting as a GTPase activating protein (GAP).
This process accelerates GTP hydrolysis to GDP, allowing the G alpha subunit to reassociate with G beta/gamma heterodimers, thereby terminating the signal.
Alternate transcriptional splice variants have been observed but not thoroughly characterized.
