Sphingosine Kinase 2 (Sphk2)는 sphingosine을 sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P)로 인산화하는 효소로, 세포 내외에서 중요한 신호전달 분자로 작용합니다. S1P는 세포 분화, 칼슘 이동, 세포사멸 조절에 관여하며, EDG 계열 G 단백질 결합 수용체(S1P receptors)를 통해 다양한 세포 반응을 매개합니다.
S1P는 심장 발생, 혈관 성숙, 난자 생존, 면역세포 이동, 신경계 및 골세포 조절에도 중요한 역할을 합니다. Sphk1 및 Sphk2의 활성에 의해 S1P 수준이 조절됩니다.
